Pilotage is compulsory and carried out from the outer bar to the inner anchorage by BIK pilots (Pilot Position: 29 O 59’N – 49O 04’E). After vessel’s arrival at BIK inner anchorage, NIOC berthing master boards the vessel in order to direct her to B. MAHSHAHR. for berthing.
Accommodations: Incoming vessels are met by tugs in the channel, about 1.6 Km below port limits. 2 tugs re used for berthing and unberthing according to state of tide, etc. Vessels arriving on flood tide are tuned off the jetties by one tug and berthed Starboard side to jetty with 2 tugs. No anchorage is available at B. MAHSHAHR.
Max sailing draft: 12.50 Meters (Please note, this is the updated max draft at berth which has recently been increased by dredging)

KHOR MUSA (Entry to BIK & Bandar MAHSHAHR)
KHOR MUSA Bar: Outer bar in position 29O 59’ N / 49 O 04’ E and inner Bar in position 30 O 02’ N / 49 O 01’ E, reached 8 Km NW from pilot station.
KHOR MUSA Channel: after leaving bar, the approach channel is navigable for 2 ocean-going vessels at the same time with a length of 72 Km, width of 250-700 M and depth of 12 M.CD.
Channel is well marked with buoys and beacons.
Anchorage: outer anchorage at KHOR MUSA & inner anchorage at BIK.
Anchoring position has to be obtained from BIK Port Control.

Assaluyeh Terminal

With an estimated 450 trillion cubic feet of gas, the South Pars Gas Field contains about 6.8 percent of the world’s gas reserves. No wonder that ASSALUYEH has come to include numerous gas processing and petrochemical complexes, as well as a wide range of downstream petrochemical industries, mixed industries, and semi-heavy industries in a total area of more than 3,000 hectares, which includes a plot of 920 hectares set aside for petrochemical industries, as well as 1,000 hectares allocated for the construction and expansion of downstream industries including polymers, rubber and plastic, synthetic fibers and textiles, industrial oils, resins and adhesives, paints and protective coatings, pesticides, detergents and chemical fertilizers.
ASSALUYEH terminal is also known as South Pars Terminal for the export of condensate, as well as Pars Petrochemical Terminal for the export of LPG and chemicals.
Once completed, ASSALUYEH is envisioned to include 30 phases, from which phases 1-12 are currently operational and phases 13-19 are at various stages of design and construction.
The followings are noteworthy:
Phases 1-5: Supply the country’s natural gas requirements through a 56-inch gas pipeline.
Phases 6 & 8: Will provide gas for re-injection into the AGHAJARI oil field.
Phases 9 & 10: Will supply the country’s Natural Gas needs, as well as for exporting to Turkey and Pakistan.
Phases 11 & 12: Will supply the gas for LNG.
Phase 1: Developed by Petro Pars Company (Iran).
Phases 2 & 3: Developed by a consortium consisting of Total (France), Petronas (Malaysia) & GASPROM (Russia). Hyundai Industries (South Korea).
Phases 4 & 5: Developed by a consortium consisting of AGIP and Petro Pars (Iran)
Phases 6, 7,8,9,10,11 & 12: developed by Petro Pars (Iran).
CARGO & SUPPLIERS:
South Pars Condensate: Supplied by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC)
LPG (C3 & C4): Supplied by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) as well as the Iran Petrochemical Commercial Company (IPCC).
Methanol, Heavy End, Ethylene, Para Xylene, Mixed Xylene, MEG, DEG: Supplied by the Iran Petrochemical Commercial Company (IPCC) and its related firms and companies at ASSALUYEH.
Sulphur: Supplied by the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC)
BERTHING & UNBERTHING:
Pilotage is compulsory.
Pilot boards vessels at anchorage.
Anchorage is situated 2.5 miles southwest of mainland.
For SBM operations, berthing is carried out during daylight only, while un-berthing takes place 24 hours a day.
Jetty berthing/un-berthing operations are not restricted by daylight.
TERMINALS & BERTHS
Condensate:
The loading at the terminal is carried out via “SBM”
(SBM No.1) Position: Latitude 27o 31.5’ N / Long 52o 31.5’ E (about 6 miles offshore).
Anchorage Position: Latitude 27o 25’ N/ Long 52o 25’ E.
(SBM No.2) Position: Latitude 27o 30.4’ N / Long 52o 31.0’ E (about 8 miles offshore)
Anchorage Position: Latitude 27o 25’ N / Long 52o 25’ E.
(SBM No.3) Position: Latitude 27o 41.7’ N / Long 52o 09.3’ E.
The Anchorage position will be advised by the terminals pilot.
Vessels are moored to the SBM by two hawser lines.
Two tugs are utilized during berthing operations. One tug stands by during vessel’s loading.
Berthing/Loading at the terminal is carried out via “SBM”, using two 16” flexible hoses.
Maximum Arrival displacement allowed is 160,000 M/Tons.
No Limitation on departure displacement.
Maximum allowable LOA is 340 M.
The maximum allowable deadweight at the terminal is 300,000 MT. (VLCC Vessels are acceptable).
There are no restrictions on height of manifold.
Average rate of loading is about 3,000-4,000 MT/Hour.
For each call, the cargo size is not limited.
The water depth around the loading area is about 40 M.
Petrochemicals:
Pars Petrochemical Terminals includes 15 berths with a water depth of about 14 meters, some of which are fully operational and the remainders are at various stages of construction:
Berths 1-5: Chemical
Berths 6-12: Containers
Berth 13: Urea
Berths 14 & 15: LPG & Ammonia
General Cargo:
A Jetty length of about 600 meters can accommodate 6 general cargo vessels simultaneously
Shore cranes are available

Berthing/unberthing is carried out 24 hours a day.
Sulphur
Sulphur is supplied by the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) at general cargo berths 3 and 4 at ASSALUYEH.
Loading is usually carried out by bucket utilizing ship’s gear.
